Before you commit
Will HitchFire gear fit my vehicle?
Hitch-mounted HitchFire gear slides into a standard 2-inch receiver. If your vehicle has one, the gear mounts. Run the checker for your exact year to see if it needs an extender or a longer pin.
When do I need a hitch extender?
When something on the back of the vehicle is in the way of the swing-out: a rear-mounted spare tire (Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender, Mercedes G-Class) or side-hinged and barn doors on vans (Sprinter, Transit, ProMaster, Express). The extender moves the mount back for clearance.
When do I need a longer hitch pin?
Some factory receivers are deeper or thicker than standard. The 2024+ Toyota Tacoma, 2022+ Toyota Tundra and Rivian R1T and R1S need the extra-long locking hitch pin. The checker flags it by year.
My vehicle doesn’t have a hitch receiver.
Many crossovers ship without one. Have an aftermarket 2-inch receiver installed, then the gear mounts like any other rig.
